Tags:

Luke Doctoral Programme was established in January 2024 to develop and coordinate doctoral training at Luke. Through the programme, we want to train the next generation of researchers, raise our level of competence and ensure high quality research in the fields that are important to us, now and in the future.

Luke Doctoral Programme supports systematic and high-quality doctoral training

Luke Doctoral Programme supports systematic and high-quality doctoral training with efficient supervision and timely completion of the doctoral degree.

The Programme covers all Luke’s doctoral researchers and their Luke-affiliated supervisors. Currently over 70 doctoral researchers are working on their doctoral dissertation at Luke.

We have developed and harmonised our doctoral training practices to enable doctoral research to be conducted in a structured way. In doctoral research, we emphasise high quality and impact, as well as wide expertise and internationality, to provide doctoral researchers with diverse career opportunities.

Luke's doctoral training is carried out in close cooperation with universities and other key stakeholders.

Doctoral researchers at Luke

The prerequisite for the status of a doctoral researcher at Luke is the right to pursue a doctoral degree at a university. In addition, the doctoral researchers have at least one supervisor who works at Luke and they follow the degree requirements of the university and the doctoral training policies of the university and Luke.

At Luke, doctoral researchers carry out their doctoral work in accordance with their research plan and in cooperation with their supervisors and complete the formal training according to the policy of the degree granting university. They have typically a fixed-term employment or a visitor contract at Luke, and the goal is to complete the doctoral degree in four years when working full-time.

Call announcements for Luke’s doctoral researcher positions are published at valtiolle.fi
